Arullo is a triad of images inspired by and in honor of the song "Arrullando" by Canalón de Timbiquí. The illustrations show the traditional motherhood of our Afro-Pacific peoples, the action of lulling a newborn baby to the rhythm of the currulao and ends with the portrait of Nidia Góngora, lead singer of the Canalón group.
I am also including images from the series Animal Studies: Birds.

Why do you make work?
Creating is my way of moving through my experience on earth, my creations are a consequence of my identity, my beliefs, my way of loving and learning my place in the world.

What are your goals as an artist?

My goal in creating is for visual narratives to be a point of connection for the people named, I like to consider that my practice inspires others to create their narratives. I genuinely believe that in the Colombian Pacific region we have an immensity of relationships that nourish and strengthen our identities. All those positive narratives and criticisms heal. create a healthy community.
